RIA investment bank Republic Capital Group hires 2 managing directors

Investment bank Republic Capital Group has brought on two managing directors as part of a hiring spree in the wake of its sale of a minority stake to serial RIA investor Merchant Investment Management in 2024.

The New York City-based firm has tapped Chelsea Reed, a consultant and the current mayor of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Paul Majerus, a longtime investment banker previously with BMO Private Bank.

Republic Capital Group chief executive John Langston said Reed will take a corporate development role focused on strategic partnerships, which will constitute traveling the industry events circuit, interfacing with firms and identifying new business opportunities. Before becoming mayor in 2022, Reed sold a private business to a large hospital group based in New York City. Her husband, Michael Reed — who formerly served as the chief operating officer of Emigrant Partners-backed RIA Dakota Wealth Management — joined Republic in 2024….
